Cedar Key Field Stone is a Marine Limestone that underlies almost all of Florida. However, this marine Lime Rock is buried so deep, in what is called the upper Eocene layer, that it rarely appears at the surface.
Cedar Key Field Stone is the most colorful of the Florida Lime Stones. These Field Stones are mostly white and cream with light brown, rust browns, pink and maroon throughout. Fossils present in Cedar Key Landscaping Field stone include foraminifers, echinoids, bryozoans, mollusks, Scallop Shells, Coquina Shell and some rare vertebrates.
