Woncote is made up of Gypsum Plaster, pure Crushed Marble (ASTM C136-81), Lime (ASTMC206), Silica Fillers, and Chemical Aditives that enhance the performance of the product. All components in the manufacturing of Woncote meet the standard forth in ASTM C587, 3000psi for Veneer Plaster. All materials used in this product meet or exceed both ASTM and Federal Specification.
Surface Preparation – All surfaces must be structurally sound and free of dirt, grease, oil or dust or any other foreign material that may prevent proper bonding. Veneer board must not be overexposed to sunlight or moisture.
Mixing – Use clean potable water only. Measure equal amounts of water for each batch to ensure color uniformity, and mix each batch the same length of time. Put approximately 3 gallons of water into a container. While mixing, slowly add Woncote Veneer Plaster, bring mix to a smooth, lump-free consistency. Mix for 2 – 5 minutes. Equipment used for mixing must be clean.
A common practice is to use a mixing paddle and a heavy duty drill capable of producing a minimum of 650 RPM’s under load. Over mixing will rapidly shorten open time. Woncote is a complete product. Any addition of foreign materials could be harmful to the performance of the finished product.
DO not use Woncote on Exterior Surfaces. Do not apply in Temperatures Lower than 45 Degrees. Woncote can be applied over the following surfaces:
Gypsum Veneer Board – Old Faded, Discolored, or other Questionable Boards should be coated with a 1:1 Bonding Agent. All joints, Corners, angles and squared edges must be reinforced with joint tape. Embed Tape, beads and trim with a tight, thin coat of Woncote and allow to set. After tape, beads and trim have set, scratch a thin coat of Woncote over the entire area, immediately doubling back to full thickness of not less than 1/16” and not more than 1/8”.
It is best to scratch and double back with the same mix; avoid inter-mixing batches. During final troweling use water sparingly after the surface has become firm. Do not over trowel.
When necessary, in order to enliven the surface, use a small amount of water trowel in with additional material overcome any blemishes or imperfection. For sand float finish omit final troweling and instead, after surface becomes firm, float to desired texture using sponge or other float system.
Porous Concrete Block – Apply only to block surfaces that develop proper suction or are scored to provide adequate mechanical bond. Apply Woncote in two coats. Trowel on Woncote Sanded as the first coat to surfficientely straighten the wall, but do not trowel smooth. After the first coat sets, but before it dries, trowel on the second coat (of either Woncote Smooth or Woncote Sanded). Total thickness should not exceed 1/8”.
Monolithic Concrete – To ensure an adequate bond, Tuf-Link Bonding Agent should be applied to entire surface.
Caution – This product may cause skin irritation. Any skin contact should be washed immediately with fresh water. When mixing this product, wear a respirator which is U.S. Bureau of Mines approved for toxic nuisance and pneumoconiosis dusts.
