Ready Mason Blend Type M 80lb: is a premixed, 2500psi mortar mix. It is stronger than the typical Type S.
Ready Mason Blend Type M is fantastic for laying brick, stone, roof tile, mud-packing floors and for creating refractory (fire-resistant) mortar.
Fire Brick – With one bag you can lay approximately 38 standard 4” x 8” brick and/or firebrick. When laying firebrick, add 3lbs of fire clay to the 80lb bag of mortar to achieve refractory mortar.
Mud Packing Floors – When mud-packing floors, you will get about 20sq ft out of a bag at ½” depth. Mix it as dry as possible. You can reduce water by adding Bonding Agent to make the mud a little more workable without sacrificing strength. You should still ALWAYS bond the floor, even when you put Bonding Agent into the mud itself.
Laying Stone – Add approximately 8oz (a coffee cup or two) of Carotex per bag of Ready Masons Blend when laying stone on a vertical application. This makes the mud a stickier as well as creamier, making it easier to use a Non-Acrylic Bonding Agent like Tuf-Link.
Exterior Thin Set – A lot of contractors have started using Ready Type M Mortar as opposed to exterior thin set when setting pavers and outdoor tile. It is a cheap alternative and works great.
Cell Fill – This mortar can be used in a pinch for tight cell fill jobs where a pump and truck cannot reach efficiently. It surpasses the typical 2000psi requirement for cell fill. Ready Masons Blend mixed design, is far superior to any other premixed material on the market here in Florida.
Roof Tile Applications – Add approximately 8oz (a coffee cup or two) of Carotex per bag of Ready Masons Blend when laying Roof Tile. This makes the mud a stickier as well as creamier, making it easier to lay Tile.
Surface Preparation – For maximum bonding, surfaces should be clean and free of all paint, oil, grease, dirt and anything that will effect the bonding capabilities of the Masons Blend. When in doubt use a quality non-acrylic Bonding Agent like Tuf-Link.
Directions for Mixing – Add 1.5 gallons of potable water to each 80lbs bag and mix thoroughly.
